The San Damiano Cross is the large Romanesque rood cross before which St. Francis of Assisi was praying when he is said to have received the commission from the Lord to rebuild the Church. Franciscans cherish this cross as the symbol of their mission from God.

Each piece is individually hand painted using vibrant colors and gold leaf by talented women who are either widows, single mothers or sole providers for their families. 

Due to the handmade nature of this product, there may be slight variations in color and/or craftsmanship.
